Bio, María José in a nutshell

I’m a leader in human-centered design, blending a strong creative background with a career in business and digital marketing. With a degree in Digital Advertising from the University of Costa Rica and a Master’s in Art & Copy, my journey began in digital environments and creative agencies like Jotabequ, where I brought a strategic focus on business growth. My passion for web design and marketing has led me to consult with prominent entrepreneurs in Canada, the Netherlands, and Costa Rica, supporting their digital expansion.

Throughout my career, I’ve received key recognitions, including Best Acquisition of the Year in 2016, 3rd place at Startup Weekend, and scholarships from institutions like Cenfotec, CEDES Don Bosco, and ULead. At 23, I founded the first holistic dental clinic at CIMA Hospital focused on the safe removal of mercury amalgams, generating over $350,000 annually through digital sales driven by SEO, digital marketing, and exceptional customer experience.

Under the mentorship of leaders like Gisela Sánchez and Fernando Ocampo, I co-designed an innovative business model to eliminate mercury in dental clinics, aligning with the Minamata Convention. Currently, I’m part of Grupo Promerica’s regional Digital Sales team, balancing my commitment to digital transformation with my role as a yoga instructor, embodying both wellness and business innovation in the region.
